Multi-IFR Familiarization
For pilots interested in multi engine flying and an instrument rating, but are not sure it is really for them, we offer a familiarization flight in our Piper Aztec. Here is what your familiarization flight will include:
1. Pre-flight Briefing: Before the flight, the instructor will provide a detailed briefing covering the objectives of the flight, the route to be flown, expected weather conditions, emergency procedures, and any specific skills or maneuvers to be practiced.
2. Aircraft Inspection: The pilot and instructor will conduct a thorough pre-flight inspection of the aircraft, ensuring that all systems are functioning properly and that the aircraft is airworthy.
3. Cockpit Procedures: The instructor will review cockpit procedures, including the use of navigation and communication equipment, setting up instruments for instrument flight, and emergency procedures.
4. IFR Flight: The pilot and instructor will then complete a local flight in accordance with an IFR Flight Plan and ATC Clearance. Weather permitting, the flight will be conducted in actual IFR conditions. The flight will include at least one IFR approach.
6. Post-flight Debrief: Following the flight, the pilot and instructor will debrief, discussing the flight performance and next steps should you determine that instrument flying is for you.
Your familiarization flight will be approximately 1 hour long.
